The public has a right to information about the activities of its government. It is SIGIR's policy to make the maximum information available on its operations and activities.

SIGIR conducts its activities in an open manner, consistent with the need for security and the other requirements of law and regulation. The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) process will be reserved for use only when it is necessary to protect information as allowed by law. Information not exempt from disclosure under FOIA shall be readily accessible to the public upon request.
